They took Jesus to the high priest; and all the chief
priests, the elders, and the scribes were assembled.
54Peter had followed him at a distance, right into the
courtyard of the high priest; and he was sitting with
the guards, warming himself at the fire. 55Now the chief
priests and the whole council were looking for testimony
against Jesus to put him to death; but they found none.
56For many gave false testimony against him, and their
testimony did not agree. 57Some stood up and gave false
testimony against him, saying, 58‘We heard him say,
“I will destroy this temple that is made with hands,
and in three days I will build another, not made with
hands.” ’ 59But even on this point their testimony
did not agree. 60Then the high priest stood up before
them and asked Jesus, ‘Have you no answer? What is
it that they testify against you?’ 61But he was silent
and did not answer. Again the high priest asked him,
‘Are you the Messiah,* the Son of the Blessed One?’
62Jesus said, ‘I am; and “you will see the Son of
Man seated at the right hand of the Power”,and “coming
with the clouds of heaven.” ’
63Then
the high priest tore his clothes and said, ‘Why do
we still need witnesses? 64You have heard his blasphemy!
What is your decision?’ All of them condemned him as
deserving death. 65Some began to spit on him, to blindfold
him, and to strike him, saying to him, ‘Prophesy!’
The guards also took him over and beat him.
53.他们把耶稣带到大祭司那里。又有众祭司长和长老并文士，都来和大祭司一同聚集。 54.彼得远远的跟着耶稣，一直进入大祭司的院里，和差役一同坐在火光里烤火。
55.祭司和全公会寻梢见证控告耶稣，要治死他。却寻不着。
56.因为有好些人作假见证告他，只是他们的见证，各不相和。
57.又有几个人站起来，作假见证告他说，
58.我们听见他说，我要拆毁这人手所造的殿，三日内就另造一座不是人手所造的。
59.他们就这样作见证，也是各不相合。
60.大祭司起来，站在中间，问耶稣说，你什么都不回答麽。这些人作见证告你的是什么呢。
61.耶稣却不言语，一句也不回答。大祭司又问他说，你是那当称颂者的儿子基督不是。 62.耶稣说，我是。你们必看见人子，坐在那权能者的右边，驾着天上的云降临。 63.大祭司就撕开衣服，说，我们何必再用见证人呢。
64.你们已经听见他这僭妄的话了。你们的意见如何。他们都定他该死的罪。
65.就有人吐唾沫在他脸上，又蒙着他的脸，用拳头打他，对他说，你说豫言吧。差役接过他来用手掌打他。 |

Those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas the
high priest, in whose house the scribes and the elders
had gathered. 58But Peter was following him at a distance,
as far as the courtyard of the high priest; and going
inside, he sat with the guards in order to see how this
would end. 59Now the chief priests and the whole council
were looking for false testimony against Jesus so that
they might put him to death, 60but they found none,
though many false witnesses came forward. At last two
came forward 61and said, ‘This fellow said, “I am
able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in
three days.” ’ 62The high priest stood up and said,
‘Have you no answer? What is it that they testify against
you?’ 63But Jesus was silent. Then the high priest
said to him, ‘I put you under oath before the living
God, tell us if you are the Messiah,* the Son of God.’
64Jesus said to him, ‘You have said so. But I tell
you, From now on you will see the Son of Man seated
at the right hand of Power and coming on
the clouds of heaven.’
65Then
the high priest tore his clothes and said, ‘He has
blasphemed! Why do we still need witnesses? You have
now heard his blasphemy. 66What is your verdict?’ They
answered, ‘He deserves death.’ 67Then they spat in
his face and struck him; and some slapped him, 68saying,
‘Prophesy to us, you Messiah!* Who is it that struck
you?’
57.拿耶稣的人，把他带到大祭司该亚法那里去。文士和长老，已经在那里聚会。
58.彼得远远的跟着耶稣，直到大祭司的院子，进到里面，就和差役同坐，要看这事到底怎样。 59.祭司长和全公会，寻梢假见证，控告耶稣，要治死他。
60.虽有好些人来作假见证，总得不着实据。末后有两个人前来说，
61.这个人曾说，我能拆毁神的殿，三日内又建造起来。
62.大祭司就站起来，对耶稣说，你什么都不回答麽。这些人作见证告你的是什么呢。
63.耶稣却不言语。大祭司对他说，我指着永生神，叫你起誓告诉我们，你是神的儿子基督不是。
64.耶稣对他说，你说的是。然而我告诉你们，后来你们要看见人子，坐在那权能者的右边，驾着天上的云降临。
65.大祭司就撕开衣服说，他说了僭妄的话，我们何必再用见证人呢。这僭妄的话，现在你们都听见了。
66.你们的意见如何。他们回答说，他是该死的。 67.他们就吐唾沫在他脸上，用拳头打他。也有用手掌打他的，说， 68.基督阿，你是先知，告诉我们打你的是谁。 |

Then they seized him and led him away, bringing him
into the high priest’s house. But Peter was following
at a distance. 55When they had kindled a fire in the
middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter
sat among them. 56Then a servant-girl, seeing him in
the firelight, stared at him and said, ‘This man also
was with him.’ 57But he denied it, saying, ‘Woman,
I do not know him.’ 58A little later someone else,
on seeing him, said, ‘You also are one of them.’ But
Peter said, ‘Man, I am not!’ 59Then about an hour
later yet another kept insisting, ‘Surely this man
also was with him; for he is a Galilean.’ 60But Peter
said, ‘Man, I do not know what you are talking about!’
At that moment, while he was still speaking, the cock
crowed. 61The Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then
Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said
to him, ‘Before the cock crows today, you will deny
me three times.’ 62And he went out and wept bitterly.
63
Now the men who were holding Jesus began to mock him
and beat him; 64they also blindfolded him and kept asking
him, ‘Prophesy! Who is it that struck you?’ 65They
kept heaping many other insults on him.
66
When day came, the assembly of the elders of the people,
both chief priests and scribes, gathered together, and
they brought him to their council. 67They said, ‘If
you are the Messiah,* tell us.’ He replied, ‘If I
tell you, you will not believe; 68and if I question
you, you will not answer. 69But from now on the Son
of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power
of God.’ 70All of them asked, ‘Are you, then, the
Son of God?’ He said to them, ‘You say that I am.’
71Then they said, ‘What further testimony do we need?
We have heard it ourselves from his own lips!’
54.他们拿住耶稣，把他带到大祭司的宅里。彼得远远的跟着。 55.他们在院子里生了火，一同坐着。彼得也坐在他们中间。
56.有一个使女，看见彼得坐在火光里，就定睛看他，说，这个人素来也是同那人一夥的。
57.彼得却不承认，说，女子，我不认得他。
58.过了不多的时候，又有一各人看见他，说，你也是他们一党的。彼得说，你这个人，我不是。 59.约过了一小时，又有一个人极力的说，他实在是同那人一夥的。因为他也是加利利人。
60.彼得说，你这个人，我不晓得你说的是什么。正说话之间鸡就叫了。
61.主转过身来，看彼得。彼得便想起主对他所说的话，今日鸡叫以先，你要三次不认我。
62.他就出去痛哭。 63.看守耶稣的人戏弄他，打他， 64.又蒙着他的眼睛问他说，你是先知，告诉我们，打你的是谁。 65.他们还用别的话辱骂他。
66.天一亮，民间的众长老连祭司长带文士都聚会。把耶稣带到他们的公会里，
67.说，你若是基督，就告诉我们。耶稣说，我告诉你们，你们也不信。
68.我若问你们，你们也不回答。
69.从今以后，人子要坐在神权能的右边。
70.他们都说，这样，你是神的儿子麽。耶稣说，你们所说的是。
71.他们说，何必再用见证呢。他亲口所说的，我们都亲自听见了。 |

12 So the soldiers, their officer, and
the Jewish police arrested Jesus and bound him. 13First
they took him to Annas, who was the father-in-law of
Caiaphas, the high priest that year. 14Caiaphas was
the one who had advised the Jews that it was better
to have one person die for the people.
15 Simon Peter
and another disciple followed Jesus. Since that disciple
was known to the high priest, he went with Jesus into
the courtyard of the high priest, 16but Peter was standing
outside at the gate. So the other disciple, who was
known to the high priest, went out, spoke to the woman
who guarded the gate, and brought Peter in. 17The woman
said to Peter, ‘You are not also one of this man’s
disciples, are you?’ He said, ‘I am not.’ 18Now the
slaves and the police had made a charcoal fire because
it was cold, and they were standing round it and warming
themselves. Peter also was standing with them and warming
himself.
19 Then the high priest questioned Jesus
about his disciples and about his teaching. 20Jesus
answered, ‘I have spoken openly to the world; I have
always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where
all the Jews come together. I have said nothing in secret.
21Why do you ask me? Ask those who heard what I said
to them; they know what I said.’ 22When he had said
this, one of the police standing nearby struck Jesus
on the face, saying, ‘Is that how you answer the high
priest?’ 23Jesus answered, ‘If I have spoken wrongly,
testify to the wrong. But if I have spoken rightly,
why do you strike me?’ 24Then Annas sent him bound
to Caiaphas the high priest.
25 Now Simon Peter was
standing and warming himself. They asked him, ‘You
are not also one of his disciples, are you?’ He denied
it and said, ‘I am not.’ 26One of the slaves of the
high priest, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had
cut off, asked, ‘Did I not see you in the garden with
him?’ 27Again Peter denied it, and at that moment the
cock crowed.
28 Then they took Jesus from Caiaphas
to Pilate’s headquarters.* It was early in the morning.
They themselves did not enter the headquarters,* so
as to avoid ritual defilement and to be able to eat
the Passover.
12.那队兵和千夫长并犹太人的差役，就拿住耶稣，把他捆绑了。 13.先带到亚那面前。因为亚那是本年作大祭司该亚法的岳父。 14.这该亚法，就是从前向犹太人发议论说，一个人替百姓死是有益的那位。
15.西门彼得跟着耶稣，还有一个门徒跟着。那门徒是大祭司所认识的。他就同耶稣进了大祭司的院子。
16.彼得却站在门外。大祭司所认识的那门徒出来，和看门使女说了一声，就领彼得进去。
17.那看门的使女对彼得说，你不也是这人的门徒麽。他说，我不是。
18.仆人和差役，因为天冷，就生了炭火，站在那里烤火。彼得也同他们站着烤火。
19.大祭司就以耶稣的门徒和他的教训盘问他。
20.耶稣回答说，我从来是明明的对世人说话。我常在会堂和殿里，就是犹太人聚集的地方，教训人。我在暗地里，并没有说什么。 21.你为什么问我呢。可以问那听见的人，我对他们说的是什么。我所说的，他们都知道。
22.耶稣说了这话，旁边站着的一个差役，用手掌打他说，你这样回答大祭司麽。
23.耶稣说，我若说的不是，你可以指证那不是。我若说的是，你为什么打我呢。
24.亚那就把耶稣解到大祭司该亚法那里，仍是捆着解去的。
25.西门彼得正站着烤火，有人对他说，你不也是他的门徒麽。彼得不承认，说，我不是。
26.有大祭司的一个仆人，是彼得削掉耳朵那人的亲属，说，我不是看见你同他在园子里麽。
27.彼得又不承认。立时鸡就叫了。
28.众人将耶稣从该亚法那里往衙门内解去。那时天还早。他们自己却不进衙门，恐怕染了污秽，不能吃逾越节的筵席
