He proclaimed, ‘The one who is more powerful than I
is coming after me; I am not worthy to stoop down and
untie the thong of his sandals.
8 I have baptized
you with*water; but he will baptize you with* the Holy
Spirit.’
7.他传道说，有一位在我以后来的，能力比我更大，我就是弯腰给他解鞋带，也是不配的。

‘I baptize you with* water for repentance, but one
who is more powerful than I is coming after me; I am
not worthy to carry his sandals. He will baptize you
with* the Holy Spirit and fire.
12 His winnowing-fork
is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing-floor
and will gather his wheat into the granary; but the
chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.’
11.我是用水给你们施洗，叫你们悔改。但那在我以后来的，能力比我更大，我就是给他提鞋，也不配。他要用圣灵与火给你们施洗。

As the people were filled with expectation, and all
were questioning in their hearts concerning John, whether
he might be the Messiah,*
16 John answered all of
them by saying, ‘I baptize you with water; but one
who is more powerful than I is coming; I am not worthy
to untie the thong of his sandals. He will baptize you
with* the Holy Spirit and fire.
17 His winnowing-fork
is in his hand, to clear his threshing-floor and to
gather the wheat into his granary; but the chaff he
will burn with unquenchable fire.’
18 So, with many
other exhortations, he proclaimed the good news to the
people. 19 But Herod the ruler,* who had been rebuked
by him because of Herodias, his brother’s wife, and
because of all the evil things that Herod had done,
20 added to them all by shutting up John in prison.
15.百姓指望基督来的时候，人都心猜疑，或者约翰是基督。
16.约翰说，我是用水给你们施洗，但有一位能力比我更大的要来，我就是给他解鞋带也不配。他要用圣灵与火给你们施洗。
17.他手里拿着簸箕，要扬净他的场，把麦子收在仓里，把糠用不灭的火烧尽了。 18.约翰又用许多别的话劝百姓，向他们传福音。
19.只是分封的王希律，因他兄弟之妻希罗底的缘故，并因他所行的一切恶事，受了约翰的责备， 20.又另外添了一件，就是把约翰收在监里。 |

25 They asked him, ‘Why then are you
baptizing if you are neither the Messiah,* nor Elijah,
nor the prophet?’
26 John answered them, ‘I baptize
with water. Among you stands one whom you do not know,
27 the one who is coming after me; I am not worthy
to untie the thong of his sandal.’ 28 This took place
in Bethany across the Jordan where John was baptizing.
29
The next day he saw Jesus coming towards him and declared,
‘Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of
the world!
30 This is he of whom I said, “After
me comes a man who ranks ahead of me because he was
before me.”
31 I myself did not know him; but I
came baptizing with water for this reason, that he might
be revealed to Israel.’
25.他们就问他说，你既不是基督，不是以利亚，也不是那先知，为什么施洗呢。
26.约翰回答说，我是用水施洗，但有一位站在你们中间，是你们不认识的， 27.就是那在我以后来的，我给他解鞋带，也不配。
28.这是在约但河外，伯大尼，（有古卷作伯大巴喇）约翰施洗的地方作的见证。
29.次日，约翰看见耶稣来到他那里，就说，看哪，神的羔羊，除去（或作背负）世人罪孽的。

31.我先前不认识他，如今我用水施洗，为要叫他显明给以色列人。
