James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came forward to
him and said to him, ‘Teacher, we want you to do for
us whatever we ask of you.’ 36And he said to them,
‘What is it you want me to do for you?’ 37And they
said to him, ‘Grant us to sit, one at your right hand
and one at your left, in your glory.’ 38But Jesus said
to them, ‘You do not know what you are asking. Are
you able to drink the cup that I drink, or be baptized
with the baptism that I am baptized with?’ 39They replied,
‘We are able.’ Then Jesus said to them, ‘The cup
that I drink you will drink; and with the baptism with
which I am baptized, you will be baptized; 40but to
sit at my right hand or at my left is not mine to grant,
but it is for those for whom it has been prepared.’
41
When the ten heard this, they began to be angry with
James and John. 42So Jesus called them and said to them,
‘You know that among the Gentiles those whom they recognize
as their rulers lord it over them, and their great ones
are tyrants over them. 43But it is not so among you;
but whoever wishes to become great among you must be
your servant, 44and whoever wishes to be first among
you must be slave of all. 45For the Son of Man came
not to be served but to serve, and to give his life
a ransom for many.’
35.西庇太的儿子雅各，约翰进前来，对耶稣说，夫子，我们无论求你什么，愿你给我们作。
36.耶稣说，要我给你们作什么。 37.他们说，赐我们在你的荣耀里，一个坐在你右边，一个坐在你左边。
38.耶稣说，你们不知道所求的是什么。我所喝的杯。你们能喝麽。我所受的洗，你们能受麽。
39.他们说，我们能。耶稣说，我所喝的杯，你们也要喝。我所受的洗，你们也要受。
40.只是坐在我的左右，不是我可以赐的。乃是为谁豫备的，就赐给谁。 41.那十个门徒听见，就恼怒雅各，约翰。
42.耶稣叫他们来，对他们说，你们知道，外邦人有尊为君王的，治理他们。有大臣操权管束他们。
43.只是在你们中间，不是这样。你们中间，谁愿为大，就必作你们的用人。
44.在你们中间，谁愿为首，就必作众人的仆人。
45.因为人子来，并不是要受人的服事，乃是要服事人，并且要舍命，作多人的赎价。 |

Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to him with
her sons, and kneeling before him, she asked a favour
of him. 21And he said to her, ‘What do you want?’
She said to him, ‘Declare that these two sons of mine
will sit, one at your right hand and one at your left,
in your kingdom.’ 22But Jesus answered, ‘You do not
know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the
cup that I am about to drink?’* They said to him, ‘We
are able.’ 23He said to them, ‘You will indeed drink
my cup, but to sit at my right hand and at my left,
this is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom
it has been prepared by my Father.’

brothers. 25But Jesus called them to him and said, ‘You
know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them,
and their great ones are tyrants over them. 26It will
not be so among you; but whoever wishes to be great
among you must be your servant, 27and whoever wishes
to be first among you must be your slave; 28just as
the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and
to give his life a ransom for many.’
20.那时，西庇太儿子的母亲，同他两个儿子前来，拜耶稣求他一件事。
21.耶稣说，你要什么呢。他说，愿你叫我这两个儿子在你国里，一个坐在你右边，一个坐在你左边。
22.耶稣回答说，你们不知道所求的是什么。我将要喝的杯，你们能喝麽。他们说，我们能。
23.耶稣说，我所喝的杯，你们必要喝。只是坐在我的左右，不是我可以赐的，乃是我父为谁豫备的，就赐给谁。
24.那十个门徒听见，就恼怒他们弟兄二人。
25.耶稣叫了他们来，说，你们知道外邦人有君王为主治理他们，有大臣操权管束他们。
26.只是在你们中间不可这样。你们中间谁愿为大，就必作你们的用人。
27.谁愿为首，就必作你们的仆人。
28.正如人子来，不是要受人的服事，乃是要服事人。并且要舍命，作多人的赎价。 |
