They
came to the other side of the lake, to the country of
the Gerasenes.* 2And when he had stepped out of the
boat, immediately a man out of the tombs with an unclean
spirit met him. 3He lived among the tombs; and no one
could restrain him any more, even with a chain; 4for
he had often been restrained with shackles and chains,
but the chains he wrenched apart, and the shackles he
broke in pieces; and no one had the strength to subdue
him. 5Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains
he was always howling and bruising himself with stones.
6When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and bowed
down before him; 7and he shouted at the top of his voice,
‘What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most
High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.’
8For he had said to him, ‘Come out of the man, you
unclean spirit!’ 9Then Jesus* asked him, ‘What is
your name?’ He replied, ‘My name is Legion; for we
are many.’ 10He begged him earnestly not to send them
out of the country. 11Now there on the hillside a great
herd of swine was feeding; 12and the unclean spirits*
begged him, ‘Send us into the swine; let us enter them.’
13So he gave them permission. And the unclean spirits
came out and entered the swine; and the herd, numbering
about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into
the lake, and were drowned in the lake.

The swineherds ran off and told it in the city and in
the country. Then people came to see what it was that
had happened. 15They came to Jesus and saw the demoniac
sitting there, clothed and in his right mind, the very
man who had had the legion; and they were afraid. 16Those
who had seen what had happened to the demoniac and to
the swine reported it. 17Then they began to beg Jesus*
to leave their neighbourhood. 18As he was getting into
the boat, the man who had been possessed by demons begged
him that he might be with him. 19But Jesus* refused,
and said to him, ‘Go home to your friends, and tell
them how much the Lord has done for you, and what mercy
he has shown you.’ 20And he went away and began to
proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for
him; and everyone was amazed.
1.他們來到海那邊、格拉森人的地方。 2.耶穌一下船、就有一個被污鬼附著的人、從墳塋裡出來迎著他。
3.那人常住在墳塋裡、沒有人能捆住他、就是用鐵鍊也不能．
4.因為人屢次用腳鐐和鐵鍊捆鎖他、鐵鍊竟被他掙斷了、腳鐐也被他弄碎了．總沒有人能制伏他。
5.他晝夜常在墳塋裡和山中喊叫、又用石頭砍自己。
6.他遠遠的看見耶穌、就跑過去拜他．
7.大聲呼叫說、至高 神的兒子耶穌、我與你有甚麼相干．我指著 神懇求你、不要叫我受苦。
8.是因耶穌曾吩咐他說、污鬼阿、從這人身上出來罷。
9.耶穌問他說、你名叫甚麼．回答說、我名叫群、因為我們多的緣故。 10.就再三的求耶穌、不要叫他們離開那地方。 11.在那裡山坡上、有一大群豬喫食。
12.鬼就央求耶穌說、求你打發我們往豬群裡附著豬去。
13.耶穌准了他們．污鬼就出來、進入豬裡去．於是那群豬闖下山崖、投在海裡、淹死了．豬的數目、約有二千。
14.放豬的就逃跑了、去告許城裡和鄉下的人．眾人就來要看是甚麼事。
15.他們來到耶穌那裡、看見那被鬼附著的人、就是從前被群鬼所附的、坐著、穿上衣服、心裡明白過來．他們就害怕。 16.看見這事的、便將鬼附之人所遇見的、和那群豬的事、都告訴了眾人。
17.眾人就央求耶穌離開他們的境界。
18.耶穌上船的時侯、那從前被鬼附著的人、懇求和耶穌同在。
19.耶穌不許、卻對他說、你回家去、到你的親屬那裡、將主為你所作的、是何等大的事、是怎樣憐憫你、都告訴他們。
20.那人就走了、在低加波利、傳揚耶穌為他作了何等大的事、眾人就都希奇。 |

When he came to the other side, to the country of the
Gadarenes,* two demoniacs coming out of the tombs met
him. They were so fierce that no one could pass that
way. 29Suddenly they shouted, ‘What have you to do
with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us
before the time?’ 30Now a large herd of swine was feeding
at some distance from them. 31The demons begged him,
‘If you cast us out, send us into the herd of swine.’
32And he said to them, ‘Go!’ So they came out and
entered the swine; and suddenly, the whole herd rushed
down the steep bank into the lake and perished in the
water. 33The swineherds ran off, and on going into the
town, they told the whole story about what had happened
to the demoniacs. 34Then the whole town came out to
meet Jesus; and when they saw him, they begged him to
leave their neighbourhood.
28.耶穌既渡到那邊去、來到加大拉人的地方、就有兩個被鬼附的人、從墳塋裡出來迎著他、極其兇猛、甚至沒有人能從那條路上經過。
29.他們喊著說、 神的兒子、我們與你有甚麼相干．時候還沒有到、你就上這裡來叫我們受苦麼。
30.離他們很遠、有一大群豬喫食。
31.鬼就央求耶穌說、若把我們趕出去、就打發我們進入豬群罷。
32.耶穌說、去罷．鬼就出來、進入豬群．全群忽然闖下山崖、投在海裡淹死了。
33.放豬的就逃跑進城、將這一切事、和被鬼附的人所遭遇的、都告訴人。
34.合城的人、都出來迎見耶穌．既見了、就央求他離開他們的境界。

Then they arrived at the country of the Gerasenes,*
which is opposite Galilee. 27As he stepped out on land,
a man of the city who had demons met him. For a long
time he had worn* no clothes, and he did not live in
a house but in the tombs. 28When he saw Jesus, he fell
down before him and shouted at the top of his voice,
‘What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most
High God? I beg you, do not torment me’? 29for Jesus*
had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the
man. (For many times it had seized him; he was kept
under guard and bound with chains and shackles, but
he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon
into the wilds.) 30Jesus then asked him, ‘What is your
name?’ He said, ‘Legion’; for many demons had entered
him. 31They begged him not to order them to go back
into the abyss.
32
Now there on the hillside a large herd of swine was
feeding; and the demons* begged Jesus* to let them enter
these. So he gave them permission. 33Then the demons
came out of the man and entered the swine, and the herd
rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned.
34
When the swineherds saw what had happened, they ran
off and told it in the city and in the country. 35Then
people came out to see what had happened, and when they
came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons
had gone sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in
his right mind. And they were afraid. 36Those who had
seen it told them how the one who had been possessed
by demons had been healed. 37Then all the people of
the surrounding country of the Gerasenes* asked Jesus*
to leave them; for they were seized with great fear.
So he got into the boat and returned. 38The man from
whom the demons had gone begged that he might be with
him; but Jesus* sent him away, saying, 39‘Return to
your home, and declare how much God has done for you.’
So he went away, proclaiming throughout the city how
much Jesus had done for him.
26.他們到了格拉森〔有古卷入加大拉〕人的地方、就是加利利的對面。
27.耶穌上了岸、就有城裡一個被鬼附著的人、迎面而來、這個人許久不穿衣服、不住房子、只住在墳塋裡。
28.他見了耶穌、就俯伏在他面前、大聲喊叫、說、至高 神的兒子耶穌、我與你有甚麼相干．求你不要叫我受苦。
29.是因耶穌曾吩咐污鬼從那人身上出來．原來這鬼屢次抓住他、他常被人看守、又被鐵鍊和腳鐐捆鎖、他竟把鎖鍊掙斷、被鬼趕到曠野去。
30.那穌問他說、你名叫甚麼．他說、我名叫群．這是因為附著他的鬼多。
31.鬼就央求耶穌、不要吩咐他們到無底坑裡去。
32.那裡有一大群豬、在山上喫食．鬼央求耶穌、准他們進入豬裡去．耶穌准了他們。
33.鬼就從那人出來、進入豬裡去．於是那群豬闖下山崖、投在湖裡淹死了。
34.放豬的看見這事就逃跑了、去告訴城裡和鄉下的人。
35.眾人出來要看是甚麼事．到了耶穌那裡、看見鬼所離開的那人、坐在耶穌腳前、穿著衣服、心裡明白過來、他們就害怕。
36.看見這事的、便將被鬼附著的人怎麼得救、告訴他們。 37.格拉森四圍的人、因為害怕得很、都求耶穌離開他們．耶穌就上船回去了。 38.鬼所離開的那人、懇求和耶穌同在．耶穌卻打發他回去、
39.說、你回家去、傳說 神為你作了何等大的事．他就去滿城裡傳揚耶穌為他作了何等大的事。 |
