When Herod died, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared in a dream
to Joseph in Egypt and said,
20 ‘Get up, take the child and his
mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who were seeking
the child’s life are dead.’
21Then Joseph* got up, took the child
and his mother, and went to the land of Israel.
22 But when he heard
that Archelaus was ruling over Judea in place of his father Herod,
he was afraid to go there. And after being warned in a dream, he
went away to the district of Galilee.
23 There he made his home in
a town called Nazareth, so that what had been spoken through the
prophets might be fulfilled, ‘He will be called a Nazorean.’
19 希律死了以後、有主的使者、在埃及向約瑟夢中顯現、說、
20 起來、帶著小孩子和他母親往以色列地去．因為要害小孩子性命的人已經死了。
21 約瑟就起來、把小孩子和他母親帶到以色列地去。
22 只因聽見亞基老接著他父親希律作了猶太王、就怕往那裡去．又在夢中被主指示、便往加利利境內去了。
23 到了一座城、名叫拿撒勒、就住在那裡．這是要應驗先知所說、他將稱為拿撒勒人的話了。 |

The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favour
of God was upon him.
41 Now every year his parents went to Jerusalem
for the festival of the Passover.
42 And when he was twelve years
old, they went up as usual for the festival.
43 When the festival
was ended and they started to return, the boy Jesus stayed behind
in Jerusalem, but his parents did not know it.
44 Assuming that
he was in the group of travellers, they went a day’s journey. Then
they started to look for him among their relatives and friends.
45 When they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem to search
for him.
46 After three days they found him in the temple, sitting
among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.
47 And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his
answers.
48 When his parents* saw him they were astonished; and
his mother said to him, ‘Child, why have you treated us like this?
Look, your father and I have been searching for you in great anxiety.’
49 He said to them, ‘Why were you searching for me? Did you not
know that I must be in my Father’s house?’
50 But they did not
understand what he said to them.
51 Then he went down with them
and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them. His mother treasured
all these things in her heart.
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom
and in years,* and in divine and human favour.
40 孩子漸漸長大、強健起來、充滿智慧．又有 神的恩在他身上。
41 每年到逾越節、他父母就上耶路撒冷去。
42 當他十二歲的時候、他們按著節期的規矩上去．
43 守滿了節期、他門回去、孩童耶穌仍在耶路撒冷．他的父母並不知道．
44 以為他在同行的人中間、走了一天的路程、就在親族和熟識的人中找他．
45 既找不著、就回耶路撒冷去找他。
46 過了三天、就遇見他在殿裡、坐在教師中間、一面聽、一面問。
47 凡聽見他的、都希奇他的聰明和他的應對。
48 他父母看見就很希奇．他母親對他說、我兒、為甚麼向我們這樣行呢．看哪、你父親和我傷心來找你。
49 耶穌說、為甚麼找我呢．豈不知我應當以我父的事為念麼。〔或作豈不知我應當在我父的家裡麼〕50 他所說的這話、他們不明白。
51 他就同他們下去、回到拿撒勒．並且順從他們．他母親把這一切的事都存在心裡。
52 耶穌的智慧和身量、〔身量或作年紀〕並 神和人喜愛他的心、都一齊增長。
